WHO AM I?
I'm Jesse Venbrux, and this website is about me and my games. I'm a student at the Utrecht School of the Arts and study Game Design & Development. I learn about all aspects of making games and am most interested in game/level design.![]()
WHAT'S GOING ON
23 May 08 A few small updates. My small experimental game Execution got featured on Kotaku, which is cool. Also the latest EDGE features Karoshi 2.0 as "Internet Game of the Month", which is even cooler. 4 May 08 The website has been updated, and a total of 4 games have been added to the portfolio (while others were sneakily removed). In the meantime I've had a little bit of success within the indie scene with my Karoshi games, which are now added to the games page. Please check them out. Also, in an interview with CEO of YoYoGames.com Sandy Duncan he said the following: "Many of the games on the site are incredibly innovative and engaging; look at guys like 2dCube, who won our “Winter” competition with “Frozzd”, and last month he released an incredibly innovative puzzle game called “Karoshi” where you need to kill yourself on each level." 24 Jan 08 A little update, now that I've been featured on a few sites (because of Frozzd). An interview with me can be read here on IndieGames.com, who not long after included my creation in their list of 2007's best freeware arcade games. Quite recently GamesIndustry.biz put up a press release about YoYoGames and mentioned me in the following way: "The creator of the charming “Wubbly” universe explored in Frozzd, is Netherlands based developer, Jesse Venbrux, who, at just 20-years-old, worked solo on the project. He wins the top prize of $1,000 and community kudos for his efforts." 10 Jan 08 My latest game "Frozzd" got first place in the YoYoGames Winter Competition! I'm really glad and very happy. Not sure yet what to do with the 1000 dollars... 5 Jan 08 My website is about done, and I'm quite happy with it. It's nice and easy on the eyes and I've never seen a color-scheme like it myself.
