Focus

(screenshots don’t do it justice. gotta see it in motion)
It’s done! Download here
Over 50 stages, unlockables, enchanting music, and above all very solid, difficult-but-let’s-try-one-more-time gameplay.
Please enjoy.
Update: Please note, on some keyboards using Space in combination with 2 arrow keys causes problems (not all 3 keys will be registered). If so you can change the Focus key to CTRL on the start-up screen.

I thought about it today. And Bang! Warp is alive! Will feedback surely.
November 18, 2009, 5:57 amMay be Oi next?
Jesse:
@salejemaster,
The game uses a DLL for the music, since Game Maker’s built in sound options are very limited. Do you have the same problem with other Game Maker games that use DLL’s?
I have not been able to test the game on Windows 7 yet, I’ll see if that has anything to do with it.
@chegr,
November 18, 2009, 9:11 amOi, hmm? I don’t think I’ll ever elaborate on that. Not much of a concept, more of a visual style it was..
Vin:
Love the game! A lot of fun
BTW. I’m using Windows 7 64bit and I don’t have any problems yet.

Dude, this game is awesome. Great job!
November 18, 2009, 1:50 pmPablopa:
Simply amazing. Very well designed, AWESOME sounds effects. Overall a great game. And the best part of it, is that it is really hard. I like that.
November 18, 2009, 4:23 pmI only wish it had a level editor like Warp had. The uploading system you used in Warp was symply awesome, so I expected something like that for this game.
Dusan Vlahovic:
Like it, very nice. Love the music and the design, the concept is fantastic. I think that de difficulty curve it¡s too steep; i’d love to keep playing but the levels with the rockets get brutal!

Once again, you fail to disappoint me with yet another master piece! My only complaint so far is that it’s not on the front page of your website yet.
Btw, have you ever thought of selling some t-shirts of your most popular games (karoshi)? I’d certainly buy one, and then go to the Netherlands for an autograph on it

I’m shocked. I still can’t believe all these effects were created vie GM. Keep on working, this one can surpass all the prev. games.

How you get to the level we see at 0:50 in the teaser?
November 21, 2009, 8:29 amJesse:
@above,
November 21, 2009, 8:37 ama lot of the stages are changed or removed for the final version, actually.
Guest:
I see.
November 21, 2009, 9:09 amIt just seemed awfully suspicious that there are two locked doors in the very last room.
Member:
I made it all, yahoooo!!
November 21, 2009, 10:47 amSome advices:
-Focus-level should be showned. Sometimes it felt like my power got empty without using it.
-Too many levels had the same concept at the end. Empty room, many shits to shoot out and two idiots lauching those rockets. I turned into a serial killer in minutes.
-I think there should be a boss that can be killed via its own rockets. An indie game without a boss is like a black metal clip without some idiots trolling in the night forest. XD
Lunik:
superb game, keep up the good work!
November 26, 2009, 7:42 ama little too challenging for my taste, especially in the last levels.
umut:
very very very very hard
November 27, 2009, 9:22 ami played on easy but its still very hard.
but its very fun and idea is fantastic

God damn the very last missile level was BRUTAL. You are some sort of masochist, I swear. I was screaming in triumph when I finally beat it.

Great work! I loved ‘Deaths’ and am really enjoying this so far. Hoping the difficulty isn’t going to bash my head in though
Very polished, very nice - You have a great grasp of platform mechanics (which is actually really rare, it would seem…)
December 21, 2009, 7:25 amBdR:
Wow, awesome game, really innovative idea too, I like it a lot.
Two points of improvement though, some levels are way too difficult. I’m hopelessly stuck on level ?? where a white UFO in the middle shoots very fast rockets, and there are 14 yellow triggers at the bottom (7 on each side of the exit). Maybe move that level more to the later levels?
And another thing, there is no level indication, you don’t know at which level you are (unless you keep count yourself), maybe you could add a level counter to the “reloading” screen or something like that.

It’s really much better than the screenshots suggest.
December 23, 2009, 8:47 pmCan even be played on my eeepc701 if distorsion effect disabled

Your game had a tiny snippet in a PC PowerPlay mag I picked up here in Australia. If you want I can scan it for your portfolio or something, but it shows its getting recognition outside of the internet.
